A lack of regulation in the industry means many installers and DIYers are figuring out how to design and install systems on the fly, piecing together components that may work well individually, but don’t always perform when combined.
It’s important to have a clear understanding of all the nuances that go into creating a functional system. It is easy to understand that a battery is connected to a solar charge controller, but what about the size of cable given the length of the run? Or how an Alternator’s charge rate is regulated and how this affects what batteries will perform best under the circumstances.
Most of the time, people get 90% of the way and leave the last 10% to chance. The power is in the details. This last 10% is where you gain the functionality, safety and reliability.
With over 500 installs out on the road and over sixty installers nationwide using our designs, we have a wealth of experience to design and install a wide range of systems with confidence. System Installation
Not everyone has access to the tools and products needed to install a functional and reliable power system. We source top tier products and materials through our extensive distribution channels to ensure your system is installed using high quality and professional grade equipment. Every electrical installation is programmed and tested before leaving the shop to ensure the safety and integrity of the system.
We can design and install a full scale electrical system for anything from vans and RVs to commercial vehicles and tiny homes.

It is common in this industry to have both professional and DIY systems underperform or not meet expectations. There are a range of reasons why this might be happening, but the most common are due to inaccurate programming, poor system design, and budget materials. To help, we frequently troubleshoot and test systems installed by professionals and DIYers to diagnose the issue(s) and provide you with information to make an educated decision on your next steps.
The mobile off-grid energy industry is still incredibly young and continues to evolve quickly. Often times, installers who claim to have experience are unfamiliar with newly emerging technology and programming guidelines. If your system is not designed adequately or is programmed improperly , it function the way that it was intended. We have designed and programmed hundreds of systems and are up to speed with current technology and firmware updates that consistently empower Victron to maintain its leading status in the industry.

We are both a wholesaler and retailer for name brands such as Victron Energy, Wakespeed, Nations Starter & Alternator, Ancor, Blue Sea, Relion and many more industry leaders. We can supply you with quality, tested brands to ensure your system performance and longevity.
We can provide you with one of our predesigned kits or we can design a custom system for you and provide you with all the needed components and overcurrent protection to empower you to complete your own power system installation.
All of our full system packages are accompanied by easy to follow diagrams that include proper cable sizes and overcurrent protection.
Pre-wired 12v Box
Just Roaming’s Pre-wired 12v Box is our most popular power system installation for Sprinter, Transit, Promaster, and Econoline series vans. This system has been developed over the years to cater to those looking to be more self sufficient while adventuring or living full time on the road. The Pre-wired 12v Box houses a fully native Victron Energy ecosystem with 200Ah-1000Ah of Victron Smart Lithium Batteries, 3kva Multiplus Inverter, DC-DC charging or alternator upgrade, solar charge controller, and all the proper overcurrent protection.

These steps below are integral to helping us understand what system will best prepare you for success on the road.

Depending on the complexity of the system you are requesting, we may need to schedule a consultation with our Lead System Engineer. This will help us collect more details and design a custom system for you. Our consultations are billed at a rate of 149/hr, with a minimum of 30 minutes billed at the time of booking.
Not all clients will need a consultation as we have many systems predesigned for a range of applications.

After we have gathered all of the details we need to understand the scope of your system design, we will send you a quote for the materials and estimated labor costs.
Some applications may have multiple solutions. If this is the case, we will send you multiple estimates that cover these options and talk you through the differences and pros and cons of each solution.
We know that electrical systems can be one of the more intimidating and complicated parts of a a van or RV, that’s why we are always happy to answer any questions before finalizing an estimate and moving on to invoicing and scheduling.

Once you approve the estimate, we will take a deposit for the project and book you into our install schedule.
Due to the high demand for our services, and having a limited number of installation bays, scheduling for service must be carefully controlled and calendared. Cancellations or rescheduling impact our small team due to lost work opportunities and gaps in the work schedules of our employees. We therefore require a deposit on the following terms, listed on our policy page.
Projects

In 2022, Just Roaming designed and installed the system powering the Victron Energy North American Training Tour. Our installs and upgrades range from replacing existing lead (sealed lead acid, AGM, wet batteries) with smart lithium packages or starting from scratch for increased discharge rate, lower discharge floor, decreased weight, and higher performance. Where experience meets innovation.
Our founder and lead systems engineer, Sam Reiser, developed his real world experience living off-grid periodically between 2015 and 2020 as he travelled the United States and Canada in a range of different vehicles chasing adventure. In 2020 he joined the Victron Energy Ambassador team as part of an initiative to provide expert support to the Victron Sales team as the North American market grew.
